JAM on the Marsh

JAM on the Marsh 2017 will be curated by the internationally renowned organist and conductor, Daniel Cook (Westminster Abbey). Music will feature strongly with performances by BBC Singers and London Mozart Players, including a Festival Commission commemorating the Battle of Vimy Ridge by Tom Harrold and Stuart Beatch, to words by Grahame Davies. There are two confirmed exhibitions by mixed media artist, Jillian Bain Christie and photographer, Tristan Fewings. Also planned is an outdoor performance of Hamlet by Changeling Theatre.

Tristan Fewings, Photography – Inland Romney Marsh

Tristan Fewings returns to JAM on the Marsh for the second part of his 2-year photographic exhibition, following last year’s extraordinary show, Between the Sea and the Sky. Having based last year’s exhibition on the seawall from Hythe to Dungeness, this year he turns his amazing eye more inland.

JAM on the Marsh: Susan Pilcher - Photography – Marsh at Night

Local photographer, Susan Pilcher makes her JAM on the Marsh debut with a unique photographic exhibition: All her shots are taken in the dead of night, giving her audience an unusual and intriguing view of the Marsh landscape and its distinctive structures.

JAM on the Marsh: Marsh Academy Students Photography Exhibition

One of the highlights of JAM on the Marsh last year was its mentorship programme and subsequent exhibition by a group of Marsh Academy photographic students. Last year this was led by Getty photographer Tristan Fewings, and for 2017 Tristan is joined by Justin Sutcliffe, a multiple award-winning photo-journalist from Kent. Over six months, the students will have created an exhibition of photographs of the Places and People of Romney Marsh

Beer Festival

JAM on the Marsh: Tomasz Lis (piano) and John Doyle (poetry)

John Doyle and the wonderful Polish pianist, Tomasz Lis, join forces for a unique afternoon of music and poetry, surrounded by John’s magnificent exhibition of watercolour pictures.

Tomasz will base his recital around Beethoven’s Eroica Variations alongside works by Bach and Chopin.

John will recite poems by Shakespeare, Keats and Auden.

The recital will last one hour and will have no interval.

JAM on the Marsh: Sounds Baroque and Julian Perkins

Sounds Baroque, directed by Julian Perkins, have visited Snargate twice before, playing to appreciative, sell-out audiences. The programming will be mainly celebratory, as we remember the life of Nic Underhill, who enabled so many events in St Dunstan’s Church. This exquisite early instrument ensemble will take us on a journey from Bach and Handel to Judith Bingham.
