RH&DR 90th Anniversary Steam & Diesel Gala

This timetable will include a parallel run in the early hours of Sunday morning for s truly spectacular sight. This timetable will be the first of its kind in RH&DR history and is sure to be an exciting experience for all.
Saturday morning will begin with a parallel run departing New Romney to ease into the days activities as the Railway begins to run the most intense service ever attempted throughout the Hythe section before reducing to hourly running as we continue into the night.
Sunday will play host to Hercules’ 90 mile challenge and will end with a procession of all Romney steam engines for a trip around Dungeness and back.
No.5 engine Hercules, recently back from intermediate overhaul, will be the star of the show, with all other available locos and visiting engines from at least two other railways adding to the spectacle.

Poetry Reading: The Marsh - launch of a new volume of poetry by Richard Selby
The Kent Launch of The Marsh - a book of three prose poems by Richard Selby which focus on events in the past history of Romney Marsh - a mediaeval Mystery or Miracle play, the death of a looker in a terrible winter storm and a family encountering echoes of the past. The book has been designed and illustrated by Nigel Davison and is a wonderful artefact in itself, being printed on an old printing press using special paper. A free event. Richard's previous book of prose and poetry, writing about Romney Marsh was The Fifth Quarter Awen Publications 2008. Find out more about Richard Selby.
