New Romney Lantern Parade - Light up New Romney

Love New Romney has teamed up with the New Romney Country Fayre Committee and the Old School Trust to bring some Christmas cheer to New Romney High Street. The team are planning the first ever Community Lantern Parade, entertainment and Carol Singing on Friday 15th December to get everyone into the Christmas spirit as part of the town’s celebrations.

The evening’s festivities will kick off with a free Punch and Judy show in the High Street at 4.30 pm. This will give plenty of time to visit the local shops, many of whom will be participating in the Christmas fun. There will be a Santa’s Grotto to explore and he is even lending his reindeer to the town for the evening!

A magical lantern parade will then begin at 5.30 pm from West Street, accompanied by Father Christmas on his sleigh. The parade route will wind through the High Street to the illuminated Old School Garden where an array of Christmas carols and songs, including New Romney’s very own 12 Days of Christmas Megamix will be led by the Seaside Singers.

Village Christmas Party

The annual village Christmas Party with Father Christmas is on Sunday, December 17th from 4pm to 6pm in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, St Mary in the Marsh.  Once again, Father Christmas has agreed to take time out from his hectic schedule to visit the good people of St Mary’s and their friends and families.  He has arranged his mode of transport for this year, the reindeer being unavailable, but wishes it to remain a surprise.  Everyone is welcome.  Hot and cold drinks will be provided but we ask everyone to bring a small plate of food to share.  If you have a present you would like Father Christmas to give to a friend, family member or loved-one (of any age), please take the present(s), ready wrapped and clearly labelled, to Pauline Rogers at 13 Rectory Road, St Mary in the Marsh by Saturday, 16th December.
