Events July 2018
Time: 6.30pm to 7.55pm (85 minutes, no interval)
Don Giovanni as narropera (narrated opera)
Narropera is the exciting new format for presenting opera for all ages, for the opera fan and opera first-timer, alike. Invented for New Zealand in 2013, the new genre is proving popular whereever it is presented. Narropera uniquely places the story and the music on equal footing, by combining the art of public story-telling with chamber musical presentation of music from the opera (arranged for the Narropera Trio of soprano, violin and piano/narrator). The story is told over 85 minutes, into which narrative are dropped ten arias. The story is totally clear and the music thus becomes so much clearer, too. And what a phenominal story Lorenzo da Ponte's libretto is - rather worth making clear! The performers are lead by star German soprano Dorothee Jansen (Bayreuth Festival, La Scala Milan, Munich Opera, Cologne Opera etc).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-4h_z72u74

The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice, Bowler Crab's twelfth production to date since starting up in 2013 and by far their best selling tour. This summer for the first time Bowler Crab have combined their local 1066 country tours in Hastings, Rye, Bexhill and Three Oaks, with their further afield winter tour locations in London, Tunbridge Wells and Brighton with great success.
Professional actors, trained in London, and local Sussex professionals have combined to ensure this team has been Bowler Crab's strongest troupe to date; many of this year's cast old and new being recruited for no less than three new 'pocket' touring productions coming later this year.
This production marks yet another big step in the Bowler Crab stride through the Shakespearean canon, with plans to double the number of venues and tour reach already in development for next year's production of Antony and Cleopatra.
With just one weekend to go - two evening performances on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July (7.30pm) - outdoors at Half House Farm, Three Oaks, Bowler Crab have extended the tour with an extra farm matinee at the end of July on Sunday 29th at 3pm.
Half House Farm is an authentic venacular yeoman farm house built in 1575, during Shakespeare's lifetime and Bowler Crab are honoured to call it their exclusive outdoor performance venue.
Tickets £15 from http://www.bowler-crab.com or 07801893115.
